McIlroy all but taking victory lap
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. – It’s no longer a matter of if he will win but how many he will win by as Rory McIlroy heads to the final three holes of the 94th PGA Championship.
England’s David Lynn shot a 68 to sneak past Justin Rose and Ian Poulter and claim sole possession of second place at 5 under — which is six strokes behind McIlroy right now.
Barring a historic collapse which seems outside the realm of possibility given his steady play, the Northern Irishman will win his second major within the hour.
Carl Pettersson is the only one who could catch Lynn. The Swede is 4 under for the tournament and playing with McIlroy in the final group.

HAHAHAHA…this is the first time in Rory’s career that he has beaten Keegan Bradley in a major!!! I still think Bradley will have MORE WINS THAN MCILROY when all is said and done!!!
Okay…I admit that Rory played lights-out and I shall give him credit where credit is due…well done Rory…
This is one of the times where “RORS” didn’t actually gag a tournament…he could have had so much potential but already gagged FOUR TIMES this year already!!! First at the Match Play…then at the Masters…then at Quail Hollow…and then at the St. Jude!!!

Did I see Rory hit the sand twice before taking the shot?
Did Rory actually hit the sand in the bunker with his practice swings? It was the 15th or 16th hole today. No penalty apparently taken.
What’s the real story here?
A few things to note:
1. McIlroy apparently can’t ‘hit left to right consistently’ and ‘has too much lag in his swing’. Well Rory joins Woods and Nicklaus on two majors at 23. Guess what, Rory is actually ahead of Woods pace, 3-4 months ahead of Tiger.
2. That short game is really bad Gail. Maybe you should revise your name ‘gags’. I hope Woods gets over his mental blips because Woods. bizarrely for someone who has 14 majors, has a lot to prove again. He has all the shots and ‘left to right shot consistently’ he has played dreadful golf at the weekend after superb, controlled golf the first few days of three consecutive majors.
3. I don’t know how you contend someone winning the toughest course in the US as voted by those who play it.
4. Hopefully those fickle fans will go away who said that Rory was finished because he missed a few cuts in a few no-events. They will be feeling stupid now. Rory is supremely talented.
you are allowed to ground your club in the sand.
Sand areas are “through the green”, you can ground your club, always been that way at this place, it’s been talked about all week.
I feel sorry for the announcers on cbs. They have been falling all over themselves for the lst 4 hours trying to keep tw name in the game. I think from his 8th hole on they kept saying “he has to make this one to get in the game” It got old after 3-4 holes when he was not making them. Then they had to resort to back 10 years ago when tiger was playing like what;s his name now.
It got so bad i had to turn off the sound. I feel for them. all except David feherty who never once kept the tw crap going.
CBS = you lose today. Horrible journalistic reporting/announcing.

Chuck, they said prior to start of tourn that the waste areas would be treated as ground not bunkers and grounding was allowed.

Joe, You are absolutely correct when you said CBS looses today. That coverage was horrible.
Once again, the perfect venue for Gags to win. Huge fairways with no wind, wet so the greens hold, and slow surfaces to putt. Almost as though they dialed it in for Gags. If it played like a real major, he may not have made the cut. Nevertheless, nice job, well done, and see you at the Grand Slam with Bubba, Ernie, and Webb…
“GAGS?”, wins by 8 strokes. From the start of the tournament, I knew he was going to play well and finish, most likely, in the top five of the tournament….Tiger typically fell apart in the third round and did nothing special in the fourth. It’s amazing how McIlroy plays the way he does even after laying up into a tree during the third round..

I guess “the windbag” has spoken! I suppose Gags couldn’t work the ball left to right, and therefore couldn’t play at this track. Bottom line, no wind and big fariways…nothing to test his weak short game. Another joke major for Gags…..BTW…where was “World #1?”

what do you want to test his short game, to play on ice or to play in a bog?
Most of those shots on that course is off slopes, you have to hit them well.
Again Gail, if the course was so easy, why didn’t Tiger win the whole thing?
